Recent Results
Congratulations to the team and coaches on their solid work at the Pacific Coast Championships! 16th out of 30 in an extremely tough tourney! Placers included David Frank took 8th at 152 lbs and two Champions in Nick Capetillo at 113 lbs and Joey Coste at 126 lbs. Way to go guys!!
Competitions this week:
Freshman/Novice Tournament – The freshman/novice tournament is at Southridge High School on Tuesday, 1/5, starting at 6:00 pm. Wrestlers will stay after school and take the bus to the tourney. Wrestlers should either bring food/drink for the evening to school with them or their family can bring their wrestler food at the event. These events usually last anywhere from 2-3 hours then will bus back to Westview.
Dual Meet Thursday vs Glencoe at Westview HS– Dual meet vs Glencoe this week on Thursday, 1/7. JV Wrestling starts at 6:00 pm with Varsity Wrestling starting at 7:00 pm. The head to head dual meets are one of the most exciting competitions during the wrestling season. For varsity matches, the lights go out and spotlights come on with the whole gym focused in on one match and watching the team scores build.
Panther Classic Tournament this Saturday 1/9 – January 9th, at Snohomish High School, in Snohomish WA, (20 miles north of Seattle). This tournament is an individual (16 man) bracketed tournament for each weight class. With overall team scores kept as well. This tournament will only include Varsity wrestlers, they will be leaving for Snohomish from school on Friday at 9:00 am and return very late Saturday night. The team will be staying at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, 900 Bellevue Way. Ph# 425-462-1234. Wrestling is scheduled to start at 10:00 am on Saturday.
5 Counties Tournament on January 15 & 16 – Some early info for this tournament since it includes out of state traveling. This is a huge and extremely tough individual bracket tournament. Coach Delaney and his staff have specific criteria for which wrestlers will go, he will communicate that directly to the wrestlers. The wrestlers going will be flying down on Thursday, 1/14, staying in a hotel and returning on Sunday, 1/17. Coach is still working out details and reservations and cost for the wrestlers. As details get secure, information will be shared out.
