Greetings Westview Wrestling Families –
Recent Results – A huge shout out to our wrestlers and coaches for the a big win over Aloha on Thursday night!! This was our first win over Aloha (last year’s Metro champion) in seven years. A great article on Oregonlive is linked here: Westview knocks off Aloha . Also Congratulations to the team on their great showing at the Snohomish Panther Classic on Saturday. The team, amongst some very tough Washington competition, earned a 7th place out of sixteen teams. Placers included: David Escobar, David Yancey, Eli Hirning and Noah Spencer all placed 5th. Kiel Resnick had a strong 2nd place finish! Joel Timmons earned a 1st place finish!

Dual Meet Thursday vs Sunset at Westview – Senior Night– This is our last home Dual meet of the season vs Sunset on Thursday, 1/16. JV Wrestling starts at 6:00 pm with Varsity Wrestling starting at 7:00 pm. The head to head dual meets are one of the most exciting competitions during the wrestling season. For varsity matches, the lights go out and spotlights come on with the whole gym focused in on one match and watching the team scores build. This week, at the beginning of the varsity match all Seniors will be honored at their last home dual of the season. All parents of senior wrestlers should present to help honor our wrestlers.
Lebanon Dual Tournament this Friday, 1/17 – Lebanon High School is hosting a dual meet tourney on Friday, Lebanon is south of Salem. This tournament will include Varsity and Junior Varsity wrestlers, they will be leaving for Lebanon from school on Friday at 9:00 am and returning late Friday night. This tournament is a team dual meet format for Varsity with four other teams (Lebanon, McKay, Stayton & South Salem). JV wrestlers will be competing in 4 or 5 man round robin brackets. Wrestling is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm on Friday.
Youth Tourney this Saturday – Westview is helping host the Metro League youth tourney this weekend at Five Oaks Middle School. All of our wrestlers are expected to be there to help run the tournament. They will be reffing, scoring and other tasks. Wrestlers should plan to meet at Five Oaks at 6:00 am to start setting up. This is an important event that supports our future high school wrestlers.
