Wildcat Wrestling Update #12

Greetings Westview Wrestling Families!

It’s been a couple of busy weeks with many great successes, not only in victory but also in competing well in defeat.  Our coaches have done an amazing job this year in working with our wrestlers.

State Results – Congratulations to all of our State Competitors.  Westview took 16th place out of 45 teams in the 6A tournament.  That is a great accomplishment.  We will look to the future with qualifying even more wrestlers for state next year and keep the program growing!

Kiel Resnick (106) and Jimmy Zeng (126) both competed hard with attitudes to be proud of!   We are proud of them for making it to state!

Congratulations to Noah Spencer finished his career placing 5th in state at the 285lb weight class.

Congratulations to Westview’s top finisher,  David Escobar, for making it the Championship match Saturday night and ending in 2nd place – great finish!

Girls State Results – Congrats to both of our girls for their Championship finishes.  Alexia Ward, 120 lbs, and Deborah James, 170+ lbs, both won their championship matches on Saturday.

District Results – Two weeks ago Westview had a solid  performance in our District meet.   Whether they placed or not, our wrestlers competed hard and with pride!  While the overall team results were not what we hoped, 6th place overall, we are still encouraged by the growth of many of our young wrestlers and look to have a much stronger finish next year!   Congratulations to all of our District Tournament placers:

7th Place: John Lord Donayre, 106 lb,  Alexia Ward, 120 lbs, Trae Clark, 182 lbs, Jaeyoon Kim, 195 lbs, Luke Vrvilo, 220 lbs, and Younis Slail, 285 lbs,  were all able to earn a 7th place finish.

6th Place: Keivon Behbehani-Escobar in the 152 lb weight class.

5th Place: Way to go to Juan Garcia earning a 5th place in the 113 lb class and Irving Gomez also earning 5th in the 170 lb weight class.

We had Four State Qualifiers:
