Wildcat Wrestling Family Update #10

Greetings Westview Wrestling Families  –  What an exciting weekend for Westview Wrestling.  Our team showed up and competed well earning a number of very big upsets in the tournament.  One area for the team can be very proud of is we far exceeded expectations, Westview had the highest positive difference between what wrestlers were seeded and what their final results were, we had a positive 33 in that stat.  The district results are below.  A couple of picture of the state qualifiers are attached also.

Metro League District Results –  Congratulations to our wrestlers and coaches for an exceptionally strong performance this weekend.  Overall our team took 3rd place in district tournament, missing second place by only 5 team points.

Congratulations to our Individual place finishers listed below. All together we had fourteen wrestlers earn a spot on the podium.  Of those fourteen we had ten place in the top four, which means they have qualified for the OSAA State Wrestling Tournament this weekend.

6th Place Finishers included: Blake Hernandez at 132 lbs; Jaafar Al-Windawi at 195 lbs
5th Place Finishers included: Zaire Foster at 106 lbs; Jaden Loveridge at 152 lbs
State Qualifiers below:
4th Place Finishers included: John Lord Donayre at 120 lbs; Ryan Timmons at 138 lbs; Kianush Behbehani-Escobar at 195 lbs
3rd Place Finishers included: David Frank at 145 lbs; Jhamante Woods at 220 lbs; Komran Behbehani-Escobar at 285 lbs.
2nd Place Finishers included: Nicolus Alva at 106 lbs; Zeeshan Naeem at 113 lbs
District Champions: Nick Capetillo at 120 lbs; Joey Coste at 132 lbs;  Both Joey and Nick are repeat District Champions. Way to guys!

Competitions this week:  Though only the qualifiers are competing at state, all wrestlers should be at practice and working out this week.  Practice on Monday morning is at 9:00 am (not 11:00 am as noted on calendar) This is the last week of preparation before State Tourney on Friday and Saturday!

OSAA State Wrestling Tournament – This Friday and Saturday, 2/24 & 2/25, the OSAA State Wrestling Tournament will be held at the Memorial Coliseum.  This is quite an event as there will be 14 mats out with all classifications 1A – 6A  competing in their tournaments all at the same time.   There is some amazing wrestling over the weekend.  Complete information for fans and spectators is attached.  You can find additional information, including brackets through Trackwrestling, on the OSAA website in the wrestling section.  The link for the website is here:   http://www.osaa.org/activities/wre/management
