Greetings Wildcat Wrestling Families – The new year is off to a great start for our Wrestlers!

Recent Results –
Glencoe Dual – Shout out to the team for an amazing performance beating Glencoe 43 – 33 in our dual match on Thursday!  let’s keep it rolling into Wednesday!!

Panther Classic – Congratulations to the team and coaches on their solid work at the Panther Classic this last weekend in Snohomish!  The team had a grea showing taking 5th place over all! Tournament placers included Nick Alva at 106 lbs, John Donayre at 120 lbs, Kevion Behbehani at 160 lbs, and Chase Kintz at 285 lbs.  We also had three Champions in Nick Capetillo at 113 lbs, Joey Coste at 126 lbs and David Escobar at 138 lbs.  Proud of everyone that competed hard!

Competitions this week:
Dual Meet Wednesday vs Aloha at Westview HS-  Dual meet vs Aloha this week on Wednesday, 1/13.  JV Wrestling starts at 6:00 pm with Varsity Wrestling starting at 7:00 pm.  The head to head dual meets are one of the most exciting competitions during the wrestling season.  For varsity matches, the lights go out and spotlights come on with the whole gym focused in on one match and watching the team scores build.

Freshman/Novice Tournament on Thursday (note change from original schedule) – The freshman/novice tournament is at Putnam High School on Thursday, 1/14, starting at 4:00 pm.  Wrestlers will stay after school and take the bus to the tourney.  Wrestlers should either bring food/drink for the evening to school with them or their family can bring their wrestler food at the event. These events usually last anywhere from 2-3 hours then will bus back to Westview.

Practice Thursday and Friday is ON – Thursday practice for all those not traveling to 5 Counties or the Frosh/Novice Tourney.  Friday for all wrestlers not traveling to 5 Counties this weekend will have normal practice on Friday.

 5 Counties Tournament on January  15 & 16 – Selected Varsity wrestlers will be competing at the 5 Counties tourney in Fountain Valley, CA this weekend.  This is a huge and extremely tough individual bracket tournament.  Coach Delaney and his staff have specific criteria for which wrestlers were selected and has communicated with those directly.  The wrestlers going will be flying down on Southwest Airlines #961 Thursday morning and returning on Flights 2854 and 3334  on Sunday morning/afternoon.  The team will be staying at SpringHill Suites Irvine near the John Wayne Airport.  17601 Fitch, Irvine CA 92614.  Ph # 949-757-0500.
